Library Book Sale

Book sale held in September.

The library would like to thank everyone who supported the book sale held September 10 and 11.  The sale was sponsored by the Friends of the Library group.  Many of the books removed from the library shelves were sold.  The Friends group raised $200 through your generosity.

Because the library only has so much room, there are times books need to be removed from the shelves in order to make room for new ones.  While it is a difficult decision to remove books, it is a necessary evil.  The main criteria for removing a book is its circulation.  If it hasn't been circulated in at least 10 years and is not considered a classic, it will probably be removed.  Not all books meeting this criteria will be removed, but many will.  These books will then be saved until there are enough to have a book sale.

Paul Sparks from Estherville picks up the books not sold.  He pays the library $1.00/box.  This makes room for the process to begin over again when the shelves become too full for new books.
